Why We Exist
Bridging the Health Care Gap in Ohio
The U.S. Census Bureau estimated that approximately 700,000 Ohioans were uninsured in 2023, and many more are underinsured or face barriers to care. The Health Equity Fund of Ohio was created to change that. By partnering with trusted health centers across the state, we ensure patients can receive comprehensive, tailored care regardless of their income, ZIP code, or insurance status.

Executive Director
Melissa Ramirez is the Executive Director of Health Equity Fund of Greater Ohio (HEFGO). An award-winning nonprofit leader with more than 15 years of experience in relationship building, strategic planning, and staff development, she is dedicated to advancing organizations’ missions. As a lifelong Ohioan, Melissa believes all Ohioans deserve access to affordable, respectful, and timely health care—without barriers or bias.
